Founding members of internet.org- Facebook, Ericson,MediaTek,Nokia,Opera,Qualcomm and Sumsung- will develop joint projects, share knowledge and mobilise industry and governments to bring the world online. The birth of such an initiative by global players in the communications industry will bring access to internet at low cost through smartphones and tablets.
These technology leaders will aim to make strides in global internet connectivity by 1- making access affordable 2- using data more efficiently and 3- helping business drive access. This will mean that all major and small industry players come together to formulate a global village of access to the internet.
'Today, only 2,7 billion people have access to the internet.
